Orablo is built on work that other people gave away. This page says whose, and what it does.
Pronunciations
Every IPA transcription in Orablo comes from the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary, a machine-readable pronunciation dictionary of North American English built at Carnegie Mellon University over more than twenty years. Nothing here is guessed: if the dictionary does not have a word, that word does not make it into a collection.

Checking the words
WordNet, the lexical database from Princeton University, is used while writing each edition to confirm that a word really exists, that it is ordinary vocabulary and not somebody's surname, and that the part of speech we claim for it is one it actually has.
